piecing together is a visual portrayal of a life and community in the form of an oversized quilt; combining light and dark pieces together to create a pattern. Quilts depict stories, provide directions, and are symbols of comfort and warmth. In this quilt, log cabin blocks create a larger picture indicative of a whole life or community, with blessings, hardships, and pain present. The use of black light after dusk gives the quilt a glowing appearance, symbolizing our dreams and purpose; how we may not see it or find it achievable until our experiences amalgamate and we work together, allowing us to create something much greater, more beautiful, and more powerful than we could have dreamt. Viewers are encouraged to experience piecing together up close and from a distance as each provides a different perspective; up close highlighting individual pieces while distance reveals a pattern greater than the sum of its parts.
